Saree may look simple enough to wear but it's an art to place each corner, border and pleats skillfully and neatly. There are some unwritten rules while draping a saree which make it look perfect once you are done with this.
There are some quick tips to keep in mind while draping saree:
1. Always wear footwear before start draping the saree. It helps in ensuring the length of saree. Ideal length of saree is such that only toes are exposed and ankles are fully covered.
2. Petticot should never be visible under your saree when you stand.
3. Petticot should be tied little tight. Otherwise your saree will start sagging and pleats will come out.
4. Be careful about the length of the pallu. It should fall upto the back of knees. Too long pallu will make you trip.
5. First make the pallu pleats and then pleat the remaining saree. This will help you in keeping the right length of pallu.
6. Pleats should be deep enough otherwise it will be a problem when you walk.
7. Pin up your pallu and pleats. This will make saree easily manageable and avoid any wardrobe malfunction.
8. Pleats should be even, clean and neatly tucked. Uneven pleats looks awkward.
9. Settle the pleats once done especially while wearing starched sarees like cotton, organza etc.
10. If you are a beginner, then make someone kneel down infront of you to settle the pleats.
